Helping Hand of Otoe County remains active during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Helping seniors and disabled adults with transportation and companionship.
Otoe County, NE: Today, Helping Hands of Otoe County, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the elderly and disabled in Otoe County at no cost, announced that they will continue to offer these services to the their current clients. They will continue to provide rides to doctor and other medical appointments and to grocery stores and pharmacies. Clients are reminded to contact their volunteer or their local coordinator as soon as possible in advance of their need so they can better serve them. There may be some minor changes at this time as many medical offices and hospitals are only permitting the patients to enter the building. Volunteers may need to wait outside for your return trip.
Helping Hands is also still taking applications for new clients. There is a simple application process that needs be completed with the local coordinator. The requirements to receive services are to be at least 60 years old or over 21 years old if they have a disability.
New Volunteers are also needed at this time to serve our growing numbers of seniors in our county. Call the local coordinator to complete your simple application to begin serving others in our community.
Helping Hands has local coordinators based in Nebraska City and Syracuse.
